RICHMOND, VA -- The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the addition of Trevor McEachron who has recently agreed to terms to rejoin the team for the remainder of the 2008 campaign. McEachron has made four appearances with the Kickers so far this season after leading the defensive unit to the 2006 USL-2 title and 2007 USL-2 finals. Specific details of the contract were not disclosed.
McEachron joined the Kickers on a short-term contract prior to the May 17th match in Western Mass, making an immediate impact by shutting out the Pioneers, 1-0. The physical defender earned USL-2 Player of the Week honors last week for his defensive efforts in the Kickers 1-0 win over Charlotte last month, including clearing two dangerous Charlotte shots off the goal line.
A regular starter with the Kickers defensive unit, McEachron played every minute of all but one game during the 2007 regular season, contributing to nine shutouts. The Woodbridge, Virginia native also registered a goal and an assist on the season and garnered USL2 team of the Week honors consecutively on June 5th and June 12th. During his rookie season, McEachron appeared in all but one game and became a regular starter on the Kickers back line mid-season.
The 2003 CAA Defender of the year was an integral component of the Old Dominion University defense that did not allow a goal for the first nine games in 2003, and garnered NSCAA All-American First Team, All-CAA First Team, VaSID All-State First Team and College Soccer News All-American First Team honors.
