The Minnesota Thunder will take their winning record back to James Griffin Stadium on Saturday, May 10 when they host the Montreal Impact at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 651.989.5151. For Saturday’s game, fans will be allowed onto the field after the match for autographs.
CAR: RailHawks host Atlanta Saturday
The Carolina RailHawks (2-0-1) host the Atlanta Silverbacks (1-1-1) this Saturday May 10th at 7:30 PM at WakeMed Soccer Park in the first Southern Derby Cup match of the season. It will be Mother’s Day night at WakeMed Soccer Park and the first 3,000 fans will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of KBS Accounting Firm, an official accountant of the Carolina RailHawks. Doors open at 6:00 PM and tickets ($10, $15 and $20) are still available by calling the LGFCU Box Office at 919-859-5425.
MIA: Blues visit Charleston Friday on FSC
Miami FC (1-3-1) will play its first out of four nationally televised match of the season this Friday, May 9th, at 8pm (ET). The game is to be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel and will be played against the same Charleston Battery (1-1-2) squad that stole victory from Miami in the Blues’ season opener back on April 12th. On that occasion, midfielder Dominic Cianciarulo scored a heartbreaking equalizer in the 90th minute.
CHA: Battery host Miami Friday on FSC
The Charleston Battery (1-1-2) takes on the Miami FC Blues (1-3-1) Friday night at Blackbaud Stadium; gates open at 6:30 PM, kick off is set for 8:00 PM ($8 - $15, 971-GOAL / www.charlestonbattery.com). The Battery is coming off a 2-0 win versus the Rochester Rhinos, Miami enters the game on the back of a 1-0 loss to the Carolina RailHawks; Friday’s game will be broadcast live on FOX Soccer Channel.
ROC: Rhinos visit Portland and Vancouver
The Rochester Rhinos who begin the 2008 regular season with five straight road games will continue their road trip on the west coast this week with matches against Portland and Vancouver.
VAN: Whitecaps host Rhinos Saturday
Vancouver Whitecaps FC (1-1-0) look to bounce back from their first defeat of the 2008 season when they host Rochester Rhinos (0-2-0) at Swangard Stadium on Saturday evening.
SEA: Sounders host Portland Saturday
The Seattle Sounders (1-1-1) play host to their arch-rivals, the Portland Timbers on Saturday in the highly anticipated home opener at Qwest Field.
POR: Timbers face Rhinos, Sounders
Following a 12-day break, the Portland Timbers play two matches in three days as they face the Rochester Rhinos on Thursday at PGE Park at 7 p.m., and then and travel north to face the Seattle Sounders at Qwest Field on Saturday.
ATL: Silverbacks visit Carolina Saturday
The Silverbacks are preparing to face the Carolina RailHawks Saturday, May 10 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. The two teams faced each other to open the season for both clubs April 19 at Silverbacks park playing to a 1-1 draw.
