RailHawks to face Red Bulls

CARY, NC -- The Carolina RailHawks and the New York Red Bulls of the MLS announced Monday that they will meet in a friendly match at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary on Friday, March 28th at 7:30 PM.

This match is part of both teams’ preseason schedule and will be the last match for the New York team before their season debut on April 5th. Fans can expect to take a glimpse of such stars as Dema Kovalenko, Claudio Reyna and Juan Pablo Angel.

“It’s a great opportunity to have this kind of competition during our preseason,” said Carolina RailHawks Head Coach Scott Schweitzer. “It will be great for our fans to be able to see Claudio Reyna, a former U.S. National Team captain, measure up against our players on our home field.”

The Carolina RailHawks are planning other matches in preparation for their sophomore USL-1 2008 season and details will be announced as they become available. They will open their season on the road on Friday, April 19th, against the Atlanta Silverbacks and will return to WakeMed Soccer Park for their home opener on Saturday, April 26th, when they host the Charleston Battery.

Tickets for the March 28th matchup against Red Bull New York will go on sale on Monday, February 4th, at 10:00 AM and can be purchased by calling the Carolina RailHawks Box Office at 919-859-KICK (5425), or by visiting any Ticketmaster outlet. Tickets will be priced the same as for regular season matches at $10, $15 and $20 per ticket with a $2 surcharge on game day. This match will be part of the season ticket package.

Red Bull New York is one of 14 teams that comprise the top-flight professional soccer league in the United States - Major League Soccer. On the field, the team is led by former Premiership striker Juan Pablo Angel, a finalist for the League's Most Valuable Player award, and former U.S. World Cup captain Claudio Reyna. In addition to Red Bull Park, the team is constructing a permanent, state-of-the-art training facility in Hanover, NJ, slated for completion in December 2008. Red Bull New York is owned by Red Bull GmbH, an Austrian company that produces the world's leading energy drink.
