The Minnesota Thunder earned their first home win of the season in their home opener against the Rochester Raging Rhinos. Alen Marcina scored the only goal for the Thunder, earning the team their second win of the season. This win advances the Thunder to 2-1-0, already moving forward from the 2007 season.

Miami FC continues their winless home record as they lost 1-0 to the Carolina RailHawks. Daniel Antoniuk’s late strike sealed the victory for the visitors.

Battery blank Rhinos 2-0
Propelled by goals from Randi Patterson and Aaron King the Charleston Battery defeated the Rochester Rhinos at Blackbaud Stadium Friday night in front of 3,355. The win was the Battery’s first of the season after starting the campaign with two ties and a draw; goalkeeper Dusty Hudock recorded the shut-out, his first of the year.

Seattle downs Atlanta 2-0
The Seattle Sounders ended their three game road trip to start the season with a 2 - 0 victory in Atlanta to give them their fourth point of the season. Goals from Leighton O’Brien and Sebastien LeToux gave Seattle the three points in a hotly contested rematch of last year’s championship game.

Montreal nabs 1-0 win in Puerto Rico
Impact survive with 10-men entire second half
A goal by midfielder Joey Gjertsen in the 83rd minute gave the Montreal Impact (2-2-0) a 1-0 win over the Puerto Rico Islanders (1-3-0), Friday, at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. The Impact played with a man down from the 40th minute mark when forward Roberto Brown was ejected from the game for a foul against midfielder Osei Telesford.
