TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced Monday its USL First and Second Division Teams of the Week for the 12th week of the season, honoring Jamie Dodds of Toronto and Richmond’s Chris Carrieri as the USL First and Second Division Players of the Week, respectively.

After opening the season winless through their first 11, the Lynx turned their fortunes around this week with a pair of surprising upsets 2-1 over Vancouver and 1-0 over Charleston. Midfielder Jamie Dodds led the charge with two goals and an assist.

The Lynx opened the scoring against the first-place Vancouver Whitecaps Wednesday afternoon in a special day match 20 minutes in. Dodds picked up the ball 20 yards from goal and chipped it expertly past Vancouver ‘keeper Tony Caig and into the top right corner.

Toronto retook the lead a mere two minutes after Vancouver leveled.  Dodds’ run down the right flank ended in a centering pass that was tapped in by striker Damien Pottinger in the 31st for his third goal of the season.

On Sunday, the Lynx were in a tight affair with the Battery when Dodds broke the deadlock in the 74th minute.  After Mat Paleschi hit the crossbar and Osni Neto attempted to scissor-kick the rebound, Dodds picked up the loose ball in Charleston’s area and slotted it past Keith Wiggins for what proved to be the winner.

The Richmond Kickers pushed their league lead to nine points with a 5-0 win at Harrisburg as second-place Charlotte played to a 2-2 draw at Wilmington. Chris Carrieri did the most damage with a goal and three assists against the City Islanders.

It took Carrieri just two minutes to leave his mark, scoring the opening tally on an assist from league-leading scorer Robert Ssejjemba.

Carrieri recorded the first of three consecutive assists in the 15th on the first of two Sascha Gorres strikes for a 2-0 halftime lead. He found Ssejjemba for his 11th of the year in the 54th and Gorres again in the 58th as the Kickers rolled on to the win.
