TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced Monday its USL First and Second Division Teams of the Week for the eighth week of the season, honoring Jason McLaughlin of Atlanta and Richmond’s Mike Burke as the USL First and Second Division Players of the Week, respectively.

Forward Jason McLaughlin, a USL rookie, helped the Silverbacks down defending champion Seattle by scoring two goals for Atlanta and assisting on the third goal.

McLaughlin went to work on the Sounders right away with an amazing chance on goal in the second minute. Seven minutes later McLaughlin finished his first goal of the night when he beat a Seattle defender and ripped a shot from the 18.

The Silverbacks added to their lead in the 61st minute on a goal by McLaughlin. On the attack, David Hayes crossed the ball from the left flank, the ball slipped through the front line and Scott Buete collected the ball on the right side. Buete sent the ball across to McLaughlin who finished his second goal of the evening, beating Eylander.

The Silverbacks iced the game when Warren Ukah headed a ball into the back of the net on a cross from McLaughlin.

In a top of the table clash, the USL Second Division leading Kickers blanked the second-place Charlotte Eagles 2-0 behind the play of veteran midfielder Mike Burke.

Robert Ssejjemba put the Kickers up with the first tally and Richmond doubled the score when Burke received a pass from Carrieri on the far side.  Streaking down the right side, Burke beat a defender to the outside and took a low shot on goal.  McClellan was able to get a hand on the ball but it was not enough to stop Burke’s rocket into the far corner.
