HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Two Harrisburg City Islanders have been invited into preseason camp with Major League Soccer clubs. Forward Lucky Mkosana is training with the Columbus Crew and Bilal Duckett is training with the New England Revolution.
Mkosana joined the Harrisburg City Islanders in the 2012 season after being selected 23rd overall by the Chicago Fire in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. In just 16 games for Harrisburg, he scored seven goals and added two assists. In addition, he led the City Islanders in points (16) and goals (7). Furthermore, Mkosana was second on the team in shots (27).
Duckett signed with the Harrisburg City Islanders in March 2012 after being waived by the Vancouver Whitecaps of MLS. He played 19 regular season games for the City Islanders in 2012, scoring one goal and registering two assists for a total of four points. Besides teammate Andrew Marshall, Duckett played the second-most games in the backline for Harrisburg.
The City Islanders will begin their 2013 season on the road against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at the new, 3,500-seat Highmark Stadium. Harrisburg’s home opener at Skyline Sports Complex will take place on Saturday, April 27th against the Rochester Rhinos. The club will conclude their 2013 regular season on Saturday, August 17th at Dayton Dutch Lions.
