CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery have set dates for two open player trials for the 2013 season. The first session is scheduled for November 30-December 1, 2012 and a second trial will be held on January 11-12, 2013. The Battery will also host a pre-season trial camp from February 8-10. The Charleston Battery has consistently used its trials as a source for identifying new players and in recent years has signed numerous players through this process, including Taylor Mueller, Mark Wiltse, JC Mack, Sean Flatley, O’Brian Woodbine and Zach Prince.
The December and January trials are open to all via the application process, the February trial players are selected by invitation only.
Players attending the trials will be assessed by the Charleston Battery coaching staff during training games played at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island, S.C. and the Charleston Battery Practice Facility.
Registration
Players interested in applying for the trials should complete the online registration available at www.charlestonbattery.com. The cost for each trial camp is $150 and includes dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday in the Three Lions Club.
Formed in 1993 the Charleston Battery has won USL Championships on four occasions; 1996, 2003, 2010 & 2012. The Battery plays at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island, the first privately-financed soccer-specific stadium in the United States. In addition to USL PRO, the Battery also competes in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and is the host each spring of the premier pre-season tournament in the United States, the Carolina Challenge Cup.
