CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Eagles finish their USL PRO regular season this weekend with back-to-back games against the Wilmington Hammerheads. Their first meeting will take place in Charlotte on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be played at Wingate University. The doubleheader then concludes on Saturday night at Legion Stadium in Wilmington at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Eagles had a rough start to the 2012 season, not finding a win until their sixth game, but the squad has rebounded with a 8-1-1 record in its last 10 games. That recent success has catapulted the Eagles into the playoff positions, but they need to find success this weekend in order to keep their playoff hopes alive, sitting ahead of seventh-placed Harrisburg by virtue of their 10 wins to the City Islanders' nine.
The Eagles met Wilmington for the first time this season on May 19th at Legion Stadium. The result was a 1-1 draw. Wilmington's playoff hopes ride on this weekend as well. They currently sit just one point ahead of the Eagles and will be fighting for their life in postseason play. Charlotte can guarantee itself a place in the playoffs with a win and a draw from the weekend's action, while Wilmington needs just one win, or a pair of ties, to move into the postseason.
The Eagles will take to a different home field on Friday night as Wingate University's Soccer Complex plays host to the side. The Soccer Complex is located in Monroe, N.C., just off Interstate 74. With the contest being a make-up game for the contest that was postponed on July 21, all season ticket holders will have access to the game at no additional charge.
All Wingate employees and families and students will receive a $5 ticket at the gate with a Wingate ID badge. Eagles Campers, wear your 2012 Eagles Camp t-shirt and get a complimentary ticket at the gate. Come out and cheer your Eagles on to victory and the playoffs!
