ST. JOHN'S, Antigua -- Antigua Barracuda FC are eager to record their first road win of the season as the Barracudas head out to face the Harrisburg City Islanders on Friday night at Skyline Sports Complex on Saturday night after their disappointing performance in Rochester on Wednesday night. Having recorded their first win in nine matches over title contenders the Charleston Battery last Sunday, expectations were high for a decent run of positive results to really jump start their season.
"We let ourselves down badly in the game against Rochester, so we are keen to put in a good performance in Harrisburg," Head Coach Tom Curtis said. "We will be positive and purposeful in our approach to secure our first road win."
The team with a record of 3-10-0, is yet to kick into high gear and with a schedule that has been full and challenging, Team Manager Fernando Abraham is also anxious to witness a turnaround in fortunes.
"Harrisburg will be another test of our abilities and we need to dig deep and show the character required to break this mould of no wins on the road", he said. "We are not concerned about our abilities, we know it's in the team and I'm confident we will show just that with a serious push for post regular season honors."
The team will look to Peter Byers to lead the attack, and his two goals in as many games, has given him the confidence to take this team forward .
"I've been getting in some good areas, and fortunately, taking my opportunities," Byers said. "I take it as my personal responsibility to lead the attack for this team and improve our record, I know we are much better than our record suggests, and with the season at a crucial time, i intend to be the difference."
Only time will tell if the conviction in the rhetoric can be supplanted into positive results on the field of play. The game from Skyline Sports Complex can be viewed on USLNation.com.
