PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds return to Chartiers Valley Stadium this Sunday to open a three-game home stand as they host the Rochester Rhinos. A long-time rival of the Riverhounds, the Rhinos will match up with the home side for a special 3 p.m. kickoff on Father’s Day.
This weekend marks the midway point of the season for most USL PRO teams. With eight games being played over the weekend, movement up and down the league table is sure to occur.
The Riverhounds are looking at Sunday as the starting point of a new season and are focused to begin the “Tale of two Halves”. The Riverhounds have spent seven of their first 11 games on the road so far this season, seeing the Riverhounds earn five points in those contests. In their remaining 13 contests, the Riverhounds will play eight games in front of the Pittsburgh faithful and will wear the City’s undeniable colors, black and gold. Father’s Day will mark the official unveiling of the Riverhounds third uniform.
On the opposite side of the pitch, the Rhinos performed well throughout to open the season. But while currently sitting third in the league standings, the Rhinos have struggled in the last month, going winless in their last five league games after a 2-1 defeat to the Harrisburg City Islanders on Friday night at Skyline Sports Complex. The Rhinos will be eager to bounce back and keep pace with Orlando City and the Charleston Battery at the top of the table.
With one team looking to transform their identity and the other team trying to return to their early-season form within the league, Sunday’s game should be exciting for players, coaches, and spectators who are all in attendance.
Tickets for Sunday’s game can be purchased by calling into the Riverhounds office at (412) 539-1191 or at the ticket gates on game day.
