DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dutch Lions FC are proud to announce the signings of forward Daniel Holowaty and midfielder Toric Robinson for the 2012 USL PRO season. Robinson joins the club after a stellar career at East Stroudsburg University, while Holowaty was an All-Liberty League First Team selection in 2011 at RIT.
Holowaty, a Strongsville, Ohio native, returns home to play for the Dutch Lions. He led the Tigers with eight goals and 20 points in 2011, scored his first career hat trick in a 4-0 win over SUNY Morrisville on September 7 and scored in both of RIT/s postseason contests.
“Dan is a kind of player we were searching for,” said Dutch Lions Head Coach Ivar van Dinteren. “He has an incredible work rate, never gives up, and is the type of player who fits in our 'Dutch' system."
Holowaty also finished tied for seventh in the conference in points with 20, and averaged a point-per-game. His eight goals were good for fifth in the Liberty League. Holowaty finished his career tied for 11th all-time in points at RIT with 61 and 11th in career goals with 24. In addition, his 10 game-winning goals put him sixth in RIT's storied history.
Robinson was named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Men’s Soccer Academic All-America team. Robinson (Westmoreland, Jamaica/Munro College) was named to the All-PSAC first team three times during his career with the Warriors, and the NSCAA All-Region Team in 2009, and was the third ESU men’s soccer player to earn Academic All-America honors.
With Robinson and Holowaty added to the DDL FC squad, the Lions are confident heading into the season opener April 13th against the Charlotte Eagles. The upcoming season will be a great challenge for the Dutch Lions, their second season in USL PRO.
