Discovered at recent combines in Florida, California

Wilmington Hammerheads News Release --

Thursday, February 23, 2012

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wilmington Hammerheads have been scouring the country in search of new talent and have found two more players as they move closer to securing their 2012 roster. The Hammerheads are pleased to announce the signings of midfielders Bryce Taylor and Hagop Chirishian, pending USSF approval.

Taylor, pictured, comes to the Wilmington Hammerheads having played previously for the Mississippi Brilla, a PDL team based in Jackson, Miss. Taylor will make his USL PRO debut with the Hammerheads in 2012.

Taylor impressed Hammerheads Head Coach David Irving during the 2012 USL PRO Showcase presented by Umbro in Bradenton, Fla. back in late January. The combine provides an opportunity for some of the best players from U.S. collegiate soccer and the USL’s Premier Development League (PDL) to show their pro potential in front of USL PRO clubs.

Taylor, from Broken Arrow, Okla., joined the Brilla in 2010 after playing for Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. During his senior year at MSU, Taylor appeared in 22 matches, 19 of which he started at the outside midfield position. He was third on
the team in points (21) with seven goals and a team-high seven assists.

Chirishian was discovered by the Hammerheads at their California combine hosted by the Ventura County Fusion. Chirishian, whom is of Armenian heritage, adds to the group of former Fusion players that includes Dylan Riley and Jack Avesyan on the 2012 Hammerheads roster.

Chirishian last played professionally for the now-defunct AC St. Louis back in 2010. A standout soccer player at Pasadena City College from 2007 to 2009, played for the Ventura County Fusion during his college years as well, helping them hoist the PDL championship in 2009.

In a recent preseason match between the Ventura County Fusion and Major League Soccer’s Chivas USA, Chirishian combined with fellow Fusion and former Hammerhead Manny Guzman to score the lone goal in a 1-0 Fusion victory.
