DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Dutch Lions FC are proud to announce the signing of Mettin Copier and Kolby LaCrone for the 2011 USL PRO season.
Copier, an Austrian/Dutch native, signed a three-year contract with the Lions. Recently having played for FC Oss, Telstar, and AZ Alkmaar, Technical Director Cor Van Hoeven was very pleased to have the defender join the club
"Mettin is a talented young defender, who has spent many years of youth development in the Dutch professional football clubs," Van Hoeven said. "He made his debut at AZ and on the national youth team (under 21) of Austria. Mettin is a great talent that fits into our football culture."
Ohio native LaCrone brings prior USL experience, having played for the Cleveland City Stars, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and the Louisville Lightning. Van Hoeven expects LaCrone will be a great asset to the team.
"Kolby made a very good impression on the coaching staff during the open try outs, an attacker with great running ability and feel for the combinations is always difficult to defend," said Van Hoeven.
Not only a great player, Kolby brings the Kolby’s Kickers Foundation and a philanthropic passion to the Greater Dayton community.
"I am bringing some previous USL experience to Dayton," LaCrone said. "I have been in and around the league for a couple of years and know what to expect for the league standard. I also bring my Kolby’s Kickers Foundation that I founded in 2009. KKF strives to positively impact developmentally disabled and disadvantaged children through the sport of soccer. I hope to integrate this into Dayton and surrounding areas."
