PITTSBURGH, PA -- With the Pittsburgh Riverhounds season right around the corner, Justin Evans has signed eight players to the 2010 roster, pending USSF approval. Of these eight, Ed Hayden, Chris Riley, Thomas Gray and Tony Labudovski are returning players. Adam Gazda, Michael Seth, Alexander Weekes and David Von Stockhausen are rookies to the league and are looking to impress the Riverhounds' loyal fans with their talent.
Justin Evans talks about the recent signing; “We are creating an extremely competitive team by using a mixture of veteran players and young talent. These players have displayed the ability to enhance the team chemistry and level of play, both on and off the field.”
Hayden and Riley will both be returning for their third year with the Organization, while Gray and Labudovski return for their second.
Gray and Labudovski both fought their way into the starting lineup for the second half of the season, making an immediate impact on the pitch. Both Gray and Labudovski made their career debut at the Hounds home opener against Crystal Palace Baltimore.
Ed Hayden has been a two-year starter, logging a significant amount of minutes for the club. Chris Riley plays outside back/outside midfield, and has been a utility player for the Hounds.
Pittsburgh-born Adam Gazda started his soccer career at the home of the Riverhounds, Chartiers Valley High School. Gazda most recently played for Reading United AC, spending three seasons for the Mid Atlantic USL Premier Development League club.
Another Pittsburgh native, Michael Seth, was a reserve player for the Hounds last season. Seth played for the PDL U-23 Colorado Rapids previously, and trained with the Rapids last year.
Defender David Von Stockhausen played collegiately at Sacramento State and Alex Weekes, a 2009 first team All-Patriot League midfielder, attended Colgate University.
