ROCHESTER, NY -- The Rochester Rhinos announced today that they will not retain Laurie Calloway as head coach for the 2008 season.
“We thank Laurie for his commitment to the club over the last three years, which was highlighted by his ability to take a young squad to the championship game in 2006,” said Rhinos Executive Vice President Matthew Ford. “We wish Laurie well as he moves forward in his career in soccer.”
Laurie Calloway served as the head coach of the Rochester Rhinos from 2005-2007 and guided the team to three USL First Division Playoff appearances. Calloway recorded a 40-21-23 regular season record while at the helm for the Rhinos.
The Rhinos will immediately begin their search for a new head coach with announcements anticipated later this week.
Ford will be available for comment today at 12:30 p.m. at PAETEC Park.
The Rhinos men begin their 13th season on Friday, May 2nd at 7:30 p.m. in Charleston, SC, as they take on the two-time A-League champion Charleston Battery at Blackbaud Stadium. Rochester opens its 2008 home slate at PAETEC Park on Saturday, May 17th against Charleston at 7:35 p.m.
