MIAMI, FL -- Miami FC was unstoppable Sunday afternoon at Tropical Park Stadium.  The South Floridian men crushed the Atlanta Silverbacks 7-1 as they chase a playoff berth in their inaugural season in the USL First Division.

In the first half, Miami FC played simply their best 45 minutes so far this season.  The South Floridian squad was aggressive and effective, and ended up with a 3-0 lead.

At the 13th minute, Diego Walsh drilled a shot from outside the box and scored his 3rd goal in the last 4 games to give Miami FC the lead.

Then, at the 30th minute, on an excellent through ball from Zinho, Sean Fraser hit a low near post shot to just slide by Shaun Kalnasy to put Miami FC two up.

Almost three minutes later Miami FC gave the fans something else to cheer about.  A cross by Jamil Jean-Jaques was perfectly headed in by Romario who scored his 15th goal of the season and gave the Floridians the 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the 49th minute Sean Fraser scored his second goal of the game and made it 4-0.

A few minutes later, Romario took advantage of a one-on-one situation with Kalnasy and made it look so easy for the South Floridians sitting at 5-0.

In the 53rd, Romario took his time and made a beautiful shot from outside the box to tally the sixth goal for Miami FC. It was Romario’s second hat-trick of the season and his 17th goal of the campaign, one back of league leader Cam Weaver of Seattle.

At the 61st minute Rodrigo Rios took one back for Atlanta and put the score 6-1, but 10 minutes later Diego Walsh had another great shot after an assist by goalkeeper Eric Kronberg and made it 7-1 for Miami FC.

After the game, Brazilian scoring legend, Romario, said, “Scoring is always great, but the most important thing is that the team is peaking at the right moment.”

Miami FC plays their last regular season home game next Friday, September 1, at 8:00 PM against the Minnesota Thunder at Tropical Park Stadium.
