Thriller for PAETEC opener Rhinos rally for late lead in 2-2 draw

ROCHESTER, NY -- The Rochester Raging Rhinos and the Virginia Beach Mariners played to a 2-2 tie in the grand opening of PAETEC Park on Saturday night. A sold out crowd of 13,768 witnessed the historic opening in driving rain and wind.
 Former Rhino Greg Simmonds opened the scoring in the 57th minute.
Rochester's Charles Gbeke scored his second goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 in the 82nd. The goal came on a diving header off a cross from Rey Martinez, who entered the game less than 10 minutes earlier.
In the 89th minute, Johnny Menyongar punched home a rebound to give the Rhinos the lead.
It was all but over as the Mariners crawled back to net the equalizer in the 90th minute. Steve Shak punched a shot past Rhinos goalkeeper Scott Vallow, ending the game in a tie.
The Rhinos (5-0-3, 18 points) remain unbeaten on the season and travel to Virginia Beach on Friday, June 9th at 7:30 p.m. to face the Mariners once again.
